The MAPFE programme receives CFP exemption from IFPHK

The MAPFE programme organised the “How to Start Job Hunting in Hong Kong” training workshop on 29 September and 6 October 2021. At the workshop, guest speaker Ms Jacqueline Lo (front, third from left) gave our students tips about obtaining job vacancy information and preparing their CV and cover letter. She also shared with them advice on interview etiquette. Dr Tan Weiqiang is third from right on the front row.

The Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong (IFPHK) has confirmed that Master of Arts in Personal Finance Education (MAPFE) graduates are eligible to apply for the “Fast-track to Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Certification” - List C candidacy. Under the fast-track arrangement, the MAPFE graduates will be exempt from taking the CFP certification education programme (courses 1 to 3) and the CFP certification examination (foundation level).

The CFP designation is a professional certification mark for financial planners. The exam exemption granted by the IFPHK is an excellent recognition of the MAPFE programme.

Dr Tan Weiqiang, Associate Professor in the Department of Social Sciences and MAPFE programme leader, said, “The MAPFE programme is the first taught master’s degree programme focusing on personal finance education in Hong Kong. The programme aims to cultivate talent in both the finance and professional education fields. Graduates may apply financial knowledge to financial planning for individuals and families. The targeted career fields for graduates of the programme include wealth management, family office, and financial education.”
